Cardiology

In our cardiology practice, we look after your heart and circulatory system, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Using state-of-the-art equipment such as electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, Holter monitors, and carotid ultrasounds, we can diagnose most cardiovascular conditions and help prevent or manage associated risk factors (such as high blood pressure, dyslipidaemia, diabetes, etc.).

We take an in-depth look at the patient’s lifestyle to learn about their lifestyle, diet and physical exercise habits, as well as their background to understand their predisposition to develop cardiovascular pathologies and to reduce or eliminate risk factors, always offering the most appropriate treatment for each of our patients.

Electrocardiogram

At THE COMM you can have an electrocardiogram to monitor your heart’s health. It is a simple, painless process that analyses the heart’s electrical activity to see if it is beating at a normal rate and rhythm, quickly detecting heart problems.

An electrocardiogram can test for irregular heartbeats, blocked arteries, heart damage or heart failure, among other conditions.

Echocardiogram

This is a painless diagnostic test that uses high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to obtain images of the heart to analyse information about its shape, size and function.

It is a very useful test to identify and prevent cardiac ailments, especially pathologies in the heart valves and to find the origin of problems such as arrhythmias, heart failure or arterial hypertension among others, in order to be able to treat them properly.

Holter

Also known as ambulatory electrocardiographic monitoring, the Holter test records the electrical activity of the heart over an extended period—usually 24 or 48 hours—while the patient continues their normal daily activities.

It is used to detect heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias) that may not appear on a standard electrocardiogram, which only records heart activity at a single point in time.

Carotid ultrasound

This simple, non-invasive imaging test uses sound waves to visualise the carotid arteries located in the neck. These arteries are the main blood vessels that carry blood to the brain.

The test provides detailed information about blood flow and can detect possible blockages or narrowing—often caused by plaque build-up (atherosclerosis). It also helps diagnose other conditions such as thrombosis.

Carotid ultrasound can identify carotid artery disease in its early stages, before it causes serious symptoms.
